Canon Camera Download Pictures To Mac: Troubleshooting Common Problems and Errors

Here is my journey: 1. Went to Canon to download the software for my laptop (I have a Macbook Air), but the website says there is no software for Catalina. 2. Tried to download the software for Mojave figuring it was close enough. It wasn't and wouldn't even open. (Pretty sure this is software is for the OLD CANON iMAGE GATEWAY Online Photo Album which was discontinued in March 2020.)3. Tried connecting my camera wirelessly to my laptop hoping it would just work. It didn't. 4. Tried attaching my camera to my laptop with a USB-B cord, using an USB-A to USB-C adapter to connect the cord to my laptop. Didn't work. Computer didn't read the camera it all. Solution: 1. Finally figured out that I should go to 2. Walked through the steps to connect my camera (simple enough - put your camera on wifi, put in your email to verify your account, etc.) 3. Selected the little Cloud with a Camera icon on my camera. 4. Selected on my laptop that I wanted to also upload to Google Photos.5. Little green light on camera started flickering and the pics started rolling in to the ihub.image.canon website as well as my Google Photos. (Pics are only on ihub for 30 days, is says)6. Downloaded ALL pics from ihub to my laptop. They arrived in two zip drives and open in Preview. So, now my pics are safe and sound in Google Photos AND my laptop.

I have had my Canon camera for several years and have always easily downloaded photos to I-photo on my I-Mac. I simply connect the camera to the computer and open I-photo. The option is given to me to download photos and to choose which ones. Tonight I followed the same procedures and the I-Mac is not recognizing that a camera is attached. Therefore it is not giving me the option to download photos. Any idea why?

Thanks for the great hint. I borrowed a friend's card reader and was able to download the photos. I still have no idea why I have been able to download directly from the camera for the last several years with no problems but last night I couldn't, but from now on I will use a card reader.

I have a DS 126 151 Canon Rebel. I am a novice--very novice--and I have never had this happen before. I am trying to download my pictures from my camera to my home computer via the cable and I am getting a BUSY signal when trying to connect to the computer. What can I do or what is this? I am anxious to download my photos. Thank you.

I am using Windows 7. Not being computer saavy I think that I use the Windows downloading system or sometime Picasa. It used to work when I plugged in the usb cable from the camera to the computer so I do not know what the BUSY message means.

I am trying to download photos from my DS 126 151 Rebel XTi and I am getting a BUSY message on the screen of the camera. I am a novice and not super computer smart so I hope you can help. I am using Windows 7 operating system. I usually just upload photos using the usb cable directly to my home computer and upload using the Windows uploading software of sometime on Picasa.
